The Private Security Authority is the Government body tasked with Regulating the Security Industry in Ireland. The Private Security authority regulates many different sectors in the security industry from Intruder Alarm, CCTV, Static Guard, Private Investigators, locksmiths and Access Control installers.
It is a legal requirement for all Locksmiths and Access Control Installers to be licensed by the PSA and to display their license number. Each Licensee is audited annually to ensure compliance with the various standards and minimum requirements as outlined. It is a criminal offence to engage the services of an unlicensed contractor operating in a regulated sector.

PSA67:2021 is the Standard that applies to Access Control Installations. All Contractors must comply with all of the guidelines outlined under this standard which sets the minimum accepted practices and ensures that all installations are carried out in accordance with all of the applicable regulations.
The most important aspect of this standard is that it now makes it mandatory for all access control installations on Emergency Exit Route doors to comply with EN179, EN1125 or EN13637 for emergency escape purposes.
Your contractor must provide you with clear documentation relating to your new Access Control System such as an ” As Fitted Document, Certificate of Compliance to PSA67:2021, System Design Risk Assessment, Certificate of Conformance to Escape Standards and any other relevant details about your system.
